Of the "Big Four" thrash metal bands: Megadeth, Metallica, Anthrax, and Slayer, Megadeth is second only to Metallica in sales and commercial success (Metallica meanwhile are the best selling metal band of all time with over 90 million sales - but it should be remembered that Mustaine helped them develop their signature sound and thrash metal in general early in their career).
As an early pioneer of thrash metal, Megadeth helped pave the way for the burgeoning extreme metal movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s, and is often cited as an influence by later metal acts, including Pantera, Arch Enemy, Lamb of God, In Flames.
Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? is considered a landmark in the history of thrash metal, with All Music Guide calling the album "One of the most influential metal albums of its decade, and certainly one of the few truly definitive thrash albums," as well as "one of the best beginning-to-end metal albums ever". In May 2006 VH1 ranked "Peace Sells" #11 on the 40 Greatest Metal Songs of all time countdown.
In 2004, Guitar World magazine ranked Dave Mustaine and Marty Friedman together at #19 on the 100 Greatest Heavy Metal Guitarists of All Time.

The Black Eyed Peas performed at the UK leg of Live Earth on July 7, 2007 at Wembley Stadium, London. will.i.am also performed a new song, Help Us Out, at the event.
The Black Eyed Peas headlined the main Ocean Stage at the Summer Sonic Music Festival in Tokyo, Japan on August 11, and Osaka, Japan on August 12, 2007. The act comprised of the band performing their hits, as well as Fergie singing solo tracks from The Dutchess. Will.i.am also sang songs from his upcoming album.
Later in 2007, The Black Eyed Peas will embark on the Black Blue & You World Tour, visiting thirteen countries, including Sweden,Romania, Hungary, South Korea Australia, Nigeria, Mexico, Thailand, Venezuela, El Salvador and Brazil. This tour will be presented by Pepsi, in conjunction with the new 'Pepsi More' advertising campaign, featuring The Black Eyed Peas. In fact, More is a promotional single made just for new Pepsi spot.
On September 11th, the Black Eyed Peas were at the millineum celebration in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Power pop quintet the Click Five formed in Boston in mid-2003.
Lead guitarist Joe Guese, bassist Ethan Mentzer, and keyboardist Ben Romans were students at the Berklee School of Music when they captured the attention of svengali manager Wayne Sharp, a longtime jazz promoter whose first attempt at creating a pinup-ready pop combo, Candy (featuring future Guns N' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke), ended in commercial disaster when the group's hotly tipped 1985 debut, Whatever Happened to Fun, flopped at retail.
After signing Guese, Mentzer, and Romans, Sharp added another Berklee student, drummer Joey Zehr, who recommended childhood friend Eric Dill to fill the band's frontman slot.
Upon receiving their Sharp-issued matching mod-influenced suits and salon-styled haircuts, the Click Five began honing their chops on the Boston nightclub circuit, and in the spring of 2004 cut their first two-song demo session. A four-song tape quickly followed, and within a month the group signed to Lava Records, soon after touring the U.S. in support of Ashlee Simpson and releasing an EP, Angel to You (Devil to Me).
The Click Five's debut LP, Greetings from Imrie House, followed in the summer of 2005 amid a flurry of licensed lunchboxes, trading cards, and hair products. The album was also supported via tour dates in support of the Backstreet Boys.
